ഈശോയുടെ അപ്പനപ്പൂപ്പന്മാരുടെ നെടുനീളന്‍ വംശാവലി മത്തായിയും ലൂക്കായും എഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. പക്ഷെ, രണ്ടും തമ്മിലുള്ള ചേര്‍ച്ച വെറും നാമമാത്രമാണ്‌.
മത്തായില്‍ ഈശോയ്ക്കും ദാവീദിനും ഇടയില്‍ 26 പേരുടെങ്കില്‍, ലൂക്കായില്‍ അത്‌ 43 ആണ്‌. ഈശോയുടെ അച്ഛന്‍ യൌസേപ്പൊഴിച്ച്‌ ഈ 26 പേരും 43 പേരും തമ്മില്‍ ഒരു ചേര്‍ച്ചയുമില്ല. ഇതുപോലെത്തന്നെ, ദാവീദില്‍ നിന്നും അബ്രാഹത്തിലെയ്ക്കുള്ള ദൂരം ലൂക്കായില്‍ 13 തലമുറയാണെങ്കില്‍ മത്തായില്‍ 15 തലമുറയാണ്‌. ചേര്‍ച്ചയുടെ കാര്യം നേരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞതു തന്നെ. മത്തായി അബ്രാഹത്തില്‍ വംശാവലി എഴുതുന്നത്‌ നിറുത്തിയെങ്കില്‍ ലൂക്കാ അത്‌ നോഹയിലൂടെ ആദം വരെയുള്ളത്‌ പറയുന്നുണ്ട്‌.
This question haunted me also for long. Then some time back I got a reference Bible. It's name is Dake's Refernece Bible (by Finis Jennings Dake (More details of this Bible at www.dake.com)). His version of the story is this.
ReplyDeleteAccording to prophet Jesus should arise from the family of David. Now God had plan it in such a way that, both father and mother should be from David's family. So from David onwards two branches of family are starting. (You can see that, from Adam upto David both geneolgy are almost same). Finally at the time of Christ Mary and Joseph, both from David's family, are married. According to him, the Geneology in Mathew is that of Joseph's and in Luke it is of Mary's (As per Jew tradition in geneology male will get importance, so joseph's name is mentioned instead of mary's in Luke). I felt this explanation is interesting eventhough there is no much evidence for this.
