Communists' skills in capitalist environments

From my experience, all the comrades from college days are doing pretty well in today's market economy. It seems to me that they have some hidden skills to survive in the markets well. One plausible explanation I have is, communism at that time was like fundamentalism. Fundamentalists somehow has the ability to filter out or manage high amount of distractions inherent to market. If this is true, market is promoting fundamentalism indirectly.

  1. Somehow I have a feel that corporate management structure and Communist central democratic structure have a lot in common. If you have skills to go up leadership ladder in a Communist party, it might have helped people to climb up corporate ladder as well. Just a hunch, no proof.
